What is Action Research? Teachers are in charge Sometimes collaboration with educational researchers Improvement of something related to their professional experiences Great to solve specific issues of teaching with teachers’ perspectives Great to improve teaching practices Provides realistic solutions and not always driven by administration

Three Stages of Action Research Identification of a process or social issue Examine practice and involve practitioners Emancipatory actions

Types of Action Research Design Practical Action Research (own classroom but part of a team of researchers) Small scale research project specific to the context being studied Participatory Action Research Improve quality of lived experiences Empower people in their settings More voice of the participants than above More involved in the process of research Can address larger issues
