NCAA Eligibility Students will need to meet specific requirements to receive athletics aid, practice, and compete their first year of college. For more information about NCAA go to www.eligibilitycenter.org Students will also need to register with NCAA Clearinghouse before entering college. Credit Recovery, D3MyWay, Tech Writing, and the SAT taken in April at Mesa Ridge High School do not count towards NCAA eligibility.

Planning for College Essays Start thinking about personal statements, significant events, significant people Practice writing essays. Look at example writing prompts and write an essay. Have others proof read and give you feed back This type of practice will help you for your senior year
Resume Sit down and list all the work you have done since freshmen year Include paid work, internships, volunteer work, student groups in and outside of school Be detailed – write total number of hours Write down your job duties in paid or unpaid positions Egs. Called local businesses for financial support of our community parade List all your AP, Honors classes List other classes that may connect with your career – CAD, AVP, etc
Resume Write down personal experiences or what you learned from past jobs, classes or events – this may not be on your resume but it will give you good information for possible essays or personal insight Resume will be helpful for college/universities or work force Create a Resume on Naviance Think of three personal references for resume – these may be potential letter of recommendations for senior year
Creating opportunities By looking at resume, you can evaluate what other activities may help you in your future goals Look at leadership opportunities that you can include in resume If possible, interview people in your career field
