THE FIRST SEIMAS (PARLIAMENT) OF LITHUANIA 11th – 12th October 1922 by Marius Gruzdys IID

The First Seimas of Lithuania convened 11th- 12th October 1922. The first assembly was held 13th November 1922 in the building of the Seimas, Kaunas (currently Maironis University Gymnasium in Kaunas). Dr. Leonas Bistras was the chairman of the First Seimas of Lithuania

Results The region of Klaipėda attached to Lithuania. The matters of Polish and Lithuanian borders became a matter of diplomatic negotiations.

The First Seimas was dissolved by decree of the President of the Republic . It was the only Seimas of Lithuania that included communists. The Seimas was dissolved because the work was unconstructive and it did not manage to form the Cabinet of Ministers.
