Understanding Percents There are three types of percentage problems. They are: 50% of 80 is what number? What percent of 12 is 3? 10% of what number is 8?

Understanding Percents All percentage problems could be solved using a proportion. % The Part = Whole 100

Understanding Percents 1 15% of 40 is what number? The Part x 15 % = 100 Whole 40 100 x = 600 x = 6

Understanding Percents 1 25% of 60 is what number? The Part x 25 % = 100 Whole 60 100 x = 1500 x = 15

Understanding Percents 1 80% of 200 is what number? The Part x 80 % = 100 Whole 200 100 x = 16000 x = 160

Understanding Percents 2 What % of 50 is 5? The Part 5 x % = 100 Whole 50 50 x = 500 x = 10

Understanding Percents 2 What % of 80 is 20? The Part 20 x % = 100 Whole 80 80 x = 2000 x = 25

Understanding Percents 2 What % of 80 is 160? The Part 160 x % = 100 Whole 80 80 x = 16,000 x = 200

Understanding Percents 3 10% of what number is 5? The Part 5 10 % = 100 Whole x 10 x = 500 x = 50

Understanding Percents 3 25% of what number is 12? 12 The Part 25 % = 100 Whole x 25 x = 1200 x = 48

Understanding Percents 3 6% of what number is 120? The Part 120 6 % = 100 Whole x 6 x = 12000 x = 2000
