Organization/ Counterclaims

Definition: A claim that negates or disagrees with the thesis/claim Definition: A claim that negates or disagrees with the thesis/claim. (PurdueOwl) Purpose of including it is to offer a rebuttal. Anticipate the other side’s argument and how you can respond. Counterclaim

State your claim towards the beginning. Organize reasons and evidence logically. Most convincing to least Least convincing to most Include counterclaim toward the end – after you’ve spent time supporting the claim. Organization
