FCC & PSC Updates since October 20, 2016 TASA Meeting Florida PSC TASA Meeting - April 26, 2017
FCC Number vs DA Number on Orders Decisions are issued in two different ways: by the authority of the entire Commission, with each Commissioner voting; or by authority delegated to the Bureaus and Offices of the Commission. If the decision is decided by the Commission, it is identified by an FCC number. The FCC number is comprised of two digits indicating the year, and a number of up to 3 digits indicating the sequence, such as FCC 08-138. If the decision is issued through authority delegated to the FCC Bureaus and Offices, it is identified by a DA number. The DA number is constructed similarly to an FCC number, with two initial digits indicating the year, and a number of up to 4 digits indicating the sequence such as DA 08-1476. DA 17-86 Order and Declaratory Ruling Released January 18, 2017 The Wireline Competition Bureau and Consumer and Governmental Affairs Bureau granted VTCSecure, LLC’s July 6, 2016 petition for a waiver of the Commission’s rules to allow VTCSecure, the provider of direct video calling (DVC) customer support services, to access the telecommunications relay service (TRS) Numbering Directory. The Bureaus granted VTCSecure’s request for a declaratory ruling that video relay service (VRS) providers must route and connect all direct voice, video and text calls between telephone numbers listed in the TRS Numbering Directory. The Bureaus concluded that the waiver and declaratory ruling will promote cooperation and interoperability between VRS providers and VTCSecure. Florida PSC TASA Meeting – April 26, 2017 10
