Action List

Actions LIST BEER Action List created by Robin from last STAP report can be find on Confluence List of tasks and subtasks provided/not-provided by ESS for BEER and for ODIN Important for all instruments – urgent need Set as feedback issue for IKON15 meeting Installation and Commissioning information shared Installation workshop 07.11 Planning on resources ongoing – more details after TG3’s Hot Commissioning (early science) to be discussed later in the session Beam monitors Discussion during and after IKON – major issues for in-bunker monitors Common solution for instrument to be discussed – no solution from ESS BEER assumes 3 locations : 1. after chopper cascade (control of chopper & moderator performance) 2. after 80 m chopper (control of neutron guide and chopper performance) 3. before sample (normalization (monitor error < 1% necessary), control of guide performance) Requirement by ESS – close to monolith (verification of target performance)

Actions LIST BEER Action List created by Robin from last STAP report can be find on Confluence Use of ESS test beamline Data evaluation of multiplexing test ongoing Detector tests planned for next week and December Regular Visits to ESS Premek Beran moved to ESS as on-site BEER instrument scientist Cable labyrinths Big progress in the electrical design – labyrinths and cable trays designed Not all interfaces are defined by ESS – design based on realistic assumptions PSS – personal safety system First draft of the PSS template sent Discussion with S. Birch ongoing (cable trays, labyrinths, …. for PSS) Detector data format Experiment on V20 in December Detector readout test on V20 within the next week

Actions LIST BEER Action List created by Robin from last STAP report can be find on Confluence Continue Diffraction work on V20 Data evaluation of multiplexing test ongoing Presentation of the diffraction experiment tomorrow Infrastructure of SEE Labyrinth for usage of SE and auxiliary system without disconnection is designed Transportation of the SE to the cave was clarified – no further issues No problem with auxiliary system operation within the cave Visit of existing beamlines HIPPO and Stress-Spec experiments in November Visit of Engine-X under consideration for the next year Combined diffraction and SANS experiments Possible sample candidate for the experiment on IMAT (ISIS) or iMateria (J-Parc) partitioning and phase growth in commercial steels (KTH Sweden) Ti2Mo alloys – growth of omega phase with temperature (UK CZ)

Actions LIST BEER Action List created by Robin from last STAP report can be find on Confluence Sample Environment (SE) The meeting with sample environment group in near future Help with definition of a basic SE for the Day-1 is welcomed For the Day-1 is planed deformation rig with 60 kN For the Day-1 is planed hexapod (2 t) and robot (12 kg) Equipment Category cost (k€) Funded (k€) Source Stress-strain rig Inst. specific - BEER 300 PREMP Dilatometer 400 Stir welding 200 (upgrade) Gleeble* 1000 Furnace for strain rig - 840* External (Chalmers) Generic strain rig Pool 50 Unallocated ? 100 * Several demands from the industry

Actions LIST BEER Action List created by Robin from last STAP report can be find on Confluence Storage areas Installation plan start to be formed – storage is available in E02 or in SLIM SLIM

Actions LIST BEER Action List created by Robin from last STAP report can be find on Confluence Upgrade path - completion Not clear concept and schedule Current working schema (9/2017) Completion of the chopper cascade (3rd PCS, 2nd MC, 3rd and 4th FC) – adding high-flux option and increase the versatility of the instrument – before closing the bunker (H1 2022) x when NMX installed (H2 2024) In-plane 1 m2 detector at high angles – increase the resolution and coverage area (H2 2023) Sample movement system (Z-table, …), laser tracking (H1 2024) Off-plane detectors – in-situ texture analysis (H2 2024) Focussing guide – increase the flux for high speed measurement (H1 2025) SANS option including MCc chopper – enlarge the science case (H2 2025)
