Baby Bears Vocabulary of the Week Jan. 14th – 17th This presentation demonstrates the new capabilities of PowerPoint and it is best viewed in Slide Show. offspring 1 Define: (n) a person's child or children. An animal’s young Example: The mother bear taught her offspring how to survive.

2 Provide Define: (v) make available for use; supply. Example: Your parents provide food and shelter for you.

3 den Define: (n) a wild animal's lair or habitation. Example: The bear hibernates in its den during winter 3

litter 5 Define: (n) trash, such as paper, cans, and bottles, that is left lying in an open or public place. the group of young animals born to an animal at one time. Example: The cat had a litter of kittens.

explore 6 Define:  (v.) travel in or through (an unfamiliar country or area) in order to learn about or familiarize oneself with it. Example:  The dog nudged the ball with his nose. Ask: The best way to learn about a new place is to go out and explore.

groom Define: (v) brush and clean the coat of (a horse, dog, or other animal). 2. (n) a person employed to take care of horses. 3. (n) a man that is getting married. Example: The girl went to the stable every day to groom her horse. 7

habitat 8 Define: (n) the natural home or environment of an animal, plant, or other organism. Example: Animals live best in their natural habitat.
