Explorers Of Louisiana

Hernando De Soto Hernando De Soto was the first explorer to cross the see the Mississippi River. He was a Spanish explorer He travelled with He explored the South eastern part of the Untied States He died in Ferriday Louisiana on the banks of the Mississippi River

Robert LaSalle Robert La Salle was a French explorer He claimed the land of Louisiana for the king of France! He named Louisiana after the French King. His name was King Louis XIV. The new land was called the Louisiana Territory. He was killed by his crew when he got them lost.

Iberville and Bienville The French King wanted to establish settlements in the Louisiana Territory. The king sent two brothers Iberville and Bienville to start cities in the Louisiana Territory. These brothers founded the city of New Orleans. Iberville and Bienville Streets in New Orleans are named after them.
