Aim: How can I Excel in this class? Do Now: Find a seat and sit down

Welcome to Ms. Reid’s Living Environment Class Things you should know about this class: In June, you will take a state test called the Living Environment Regents Exam which you need to pass in order to move to 10th grade chemistry. New York State requires that you have 1200 minutes of lab work in order to take the Regents. So we will be doing labs in this class (about once a week). There will be 4 formal written lab reports/. There will be 2 Mastery work Projects. There will be a “pop” quiz every Wedesday.

Welcome to Ms. Reid’s Living Environment Class Things you should know about this class: There will be unit tests about every 2-3 weeks. There will be 1 midterm and 1 final every term. If you miss a test you will be responsible of letting me know and taking it within 1 week of the missed date You will not have homework every night. However you will be given a homework pack every Wednesday and it is due the following Wednesday. Extra credit will be awarded for early homework All make up work will be done Tuesday after school (NOT during class unless instructed). 1 midterm at the end mp 1 and a final at the end of mp2 1 midterm at the end of mp 3 and a final at the end of mp4

Class participation – 20% Grading Policy Tests, quizzes and projects – 35% Mastery work – 35% Class participation – 20% Homework – 10%

Requirements for this class You will need a section in your binder or a notebook and a folder just for Living Environment to take your notes in. I will do note checks. You will need a pencil and a pen. All test and quizzes (except pop quizzes) are done on scantrons. You have to do your homework. I will call parents up if a student misses 2 homeworks.

How will you survive my class? Be on time. Be prepared. Do the work even if you are absent www.MsReidslivingEnvironment.weebly.com Hand in your work on time. Be on time. There is a lot of information you need in this class. If you are late or miss a lot of class time, you are missing important information. Be prepared. If you are looking for pencils, paper during class time, your are missing information. Do the work. All the work you will be doing is designed to help you past your exams and the Regents at the end of the year. Like in sports, the more practice you do the better you will be. www.MsReidslivingEnvironment.weebly.com Hand in your work on time. Late work will have points taken off. Since you will eventually have to hand it in anyway, just hand it in on the due date and get the full amount of points that you deserve.

The Bathroom Policy Important if you start failing I will check the log if there is a correlation between failing students and students who are out often I will call parents and inform them of this correlation

The real Bathroom policy There is a log and a pass near the door. After you have been given permission to go, sign the log and take the pass with you. As long as another student is not outside you will be given permission to use the bathroom unless it is 10 mins into class or 10 mins before the end of class however understand that the class will NOT stop for you. It is your responsibility to make sure you do NOT miss important material. Leave at your own risk Important if you start failing I will check the log if there is a correlation between failing students and students who are out often I will call parents and inform them of this correlation

Class Rules You must be in uniform at all times. I reserve the right to ask you to leave the room to fix your uniform. During this time you will also loose information and it will be your own doing. Parents will be called for missing work, insubordination, truancy and other forms of misbehavior. Respect each other and the classroom environment. No foul language is permitted at any time. Respect the bathroom policy
