Presentation transcript:

Understanding Risk Integrated Risk Management is a continuous, proactive and systematic process to understand, manage, and communicate risk from an organisation-wide perspective. It is about making strategic decisions that contribute to the achievement of GGA’s overall goals’ GGA Risk Management Framework 2011

What is Risk a situation involving exposure to danger. "do not use the stove inside a tent because of the risk of fire"

What is a hazard? A hazard is anything that has the potential to harm people Using the stove in the tent as it will cause a fire

Region and District Manager’s Role Identify operational risks Assess the affect that they will have on the Region or District - positive and negative Control the risk where needed Controlling risk is not stopping any activity that might contain a risk, it is reducing the likelihood of the risk happening.

So what is Operational Risk Management A logic-based, common sense approach to making calculated decisions on people, reputation, and environmental factors The process of identifying, assessing, and controlling risk Operational risk management is a way to manage risk and applies to everything we do.

Why do we look at Operational Risk To keep us a viable and highly respected girl organisation • For our own physical and psychological safety • To grow competent Leaders and Managers in your District and Region • For the safety of the girls • To meet legal requirements of ‘reasonable care’ (WHS Act 2011)

What are some of the Operational Risk we need to be aware of?

Within Your Patrol discuss what Operational Hazards you could face in your District Refer back t Trainers Notes toe ensure discussion stays on track Bring group back and get 1 hazard from each patrol

Must be kept until the youngest girl turns 25 Public Documents Must be kept until the youngest girl turns 25 Are a living Document and should be updated regulary Public documents which should be available for any member or public body who wish to see them The risk plan for the hall should be revisited every year to see what has changed and updated The risk assessments for activities involving the girls needs to be kept until the youngest member is 25. How you store these documents is up to you, my recommendation is that they are in a filing cabinet or sealed plastic tub.
