Day 21 9/30-10/1 Agenda: Set up new unit: Unit 3- Cells ACT Practice Cell theory video and notes Characteristics of life foldable

Bell Ringer Day 21 Set up a new section in your notebook for UNIT 3: Cells Make a table of contents page. Entry 1 should be bell ringers, leave 2 pages front and back blank for bell ringers

ACT Science Strategy 1. Skip the Passage: Go straight to the questions! If you read all the background information you will run out of time!

2. Make the Match: Match words in the question with words in the figures. Only if there is no match do you need to read the passage

3. Keep the Pace: This is a graph and table speed-reading test 3. Keep the Pace: This is a graph and table speed-reading test. You have less than 1 minute per question.

Characteristics of life (entry 2) 1.Fold a sheet of paper in half (“hamburger style”) 2.Cut 7 slits so you have 8 flaps 3.On the flaps write: Reproduce Adapt Respond to stimuli Energy Homeostasis Organization Grow and develop

Cell Theory (entry 3) Cell theory: All living things are made of cells Cells are the basic unit of life All new cells come from existing cells

Set up this chart in your notebook Scientist’s name Contribution to cell theory Hooke Leeuwenhoek Schleiden Schwaan Virchow
