Nitrogen, Oxygen, Carbon and Water Cycles Nitrogen, Oxygen, Carbon and Water

This is the carbon cycle you first learned about This is the carbon cycle you first learned about. It is very short term, and will have little or no effect upon global warming. It works on a cycle that is no more than 10's of years long. C6H12O6 + 6O2 -> 6H2O + 6CO2 6H2O + 6CO2==>C6H12O6 + 6O2

Carbon Dioxide This cycle can be as long as millions of years. Can slow global warming. Released by ocean water. Absorbed by ocean water, shallow and deep, and held.

CaCO3 is subducted into the Earth, or made into a mountain, either way, it is taken out of circulation for billions of years. Carbon dioxide is absorbed by ocean water Carbon dioxide is absorbed into rocks, either directly or through the shells of marine organisms. Usually limestone; Calcium carbonate. CaCO3
