Presentation transcript:

Introduction Nursing profession requires knowledge of ethics to guide performance. The nature of this profession necessitates ethical care more than routine care. Today, worldwide definition of professional ethic code has been done based on human and ethical issues in the communication between nurse and patient. To improve all dimensions of nursing, we need to respect ethic codes. The aim of this study is to assess knowledge and performance about nursing ethic codes from nurses' and patients' perspective.

6 key ethical principles of nursing Justice Non-maleficence Beneficence Fidelity Autonomy Principles of totality and integrity

Justice Treat all patients fairly and equally

Non-maleficence Remain competent in the field and report suspected abuse.

Beneficence Have compassion, take positive actions to help others and follow through on the desire to do good.

Fidelity Keep commitments, based on virtue of caring

Aoutonomy Respect patients wishes, even when you do not agree with them

Principels of totality and integrity Consider the entire person when deciding which therapies, medications or procedures a patient should receive
