Literature: Tuesday, September 25, 2018 Handouts: * Venn Diagram Homework: * Read an AR book 20 – 30 minutes daily & record on chart * STUDY for Lit Test #1: Intro to Literature; test is tomorrow. Use Cornell Notes #1-7 to assist you in studying Assignments Due: We will complete the Venn Diagram today in class and hand it in.

Today’s Goal: Compare and contrast the story “All Summer in a Day” with the 1984 movie version. Outcomes: Define “setting” and explain why it is a key element in today’s story. Make inferences while you read “All Summer in a Day.” Explain the significance of the title in today’s short story. Analyze the conflicts that drive the plot in “All Summer in a Day.” Compare and contrast the story with the movie version.

Starter #1: Yesterday we read “All Summer in a Day.” If you were a movie producer, how would you portray this story? Try to imagine it in your mind. . . . Today we have a 30-minute movie based on that story. What graphic organizer could we use to help us compare and contrast the story with the movie version? Please turn to today’s handout, your Venn Diagram, and label it: Short Story Version Movie Version Let’s talk about the right way to fill out a Venn diagram.
