AS Level PE Induction 28th June 2016

Outline of the course 3 areas of the course covered. Physiological Factors Affecting Performance (A&P, Ex Phys, Biomech) Psychological and Socio-Cultural themes in Physical Education (Skill Acq, Sports Psych, Sport & Society) Performance in Physical Education (1 sport as a performer or coach + Evaluation of Performance for Improvement

Assessment requirements Sections 1 & 2 are assessed via exams. Each section has one exam of 1 hour 15 minutes with questions on each element + a synoptic question across the 3 elements. Section 3 is assessed using one sport that is assessed internally (video evidence is required) with a verbal analysis of performance.

Stationery Requirements A4 lined paper. Basic writing equipment, including ruler, pen and pencil. 2 A4 ring binders. Dividers Home access to the internet would be beneficial.

Bridging work There are 4 different types of bone in the body. For each one, describe their main purpose. There are 3 different types of muscle in the body. For each one, describe how and what they are used for.

Taster activity Label the main bones and the main muscles in the body.

Final Tips File notes after EVERY lesson Get into the habit of rereading and rewriting notes after EVERY lesson Read around the subject. You should read in preparation for every lesson and again after every lesson to help your understanding Complete all homework Ask questions when you do not understand
