Legends and mysteries about our palaces

THE BELOW PALACE IN SŁAWUTÓWKO

THE BELOW PALACE IN SŁAWUTÓWKO The history of this place can really chill the blood. The beginning of the 20th Century brought great changes to Sławutówko. The old manor was replaced with a new palace, which was the home of the van Below family. Unfortunately, the palace idyll did not last long; the upcoming World War II forced the property to be transferred to a relative of the Belows, Albrecht von Krockow. The Prussian origin of the Below family was not an advantage in the eyes of the invading Red Army. After receiving a tip from the Ukrainian maid, the Russians murdered the entire family. Their grave is located in the nearby forest. The Below family had a good reputation in the eyes of the people, thus the villagers stoned the Ukrainian informant in revange.

THE BELOW PALACE IN SŁAWUTÓWKO Today, the Below Palace hosts a luxurious hotel with tastefully-furnished apartments, elegant rooms and a restaurant offering cuisine from all around the world.

THE JOHN III SOBIESKI PALACE IN RZUCEWO

THE JOHN III SOBIESKI PALACE IN RZUCEWO There is an alley leading to the castle, with very old linden trees, which – according to legend – were planted by King John III Sobieski himself. The neo- gothic appearance, created in 1840 by the architect Friedrich Stüler, recalls the former owners - the von Below family. After World War II, the owners of the castle changed frequently, bringing it to the brink of ruin.

THE JOHN III SOBIESKI PALACE IN RZUCEWO The castle is currently home to a hotel and restaurant-cafe. This is a perfect place for people with a creative imagination, for thinkers. Its mysterious beauty enchants everyone. Formerly a comfortable, aristocratic residence, today, it is a comfortably-furnished hotel, which provides peace, recreation and good working conditions for its guests from all around the world.

THE PALACE IN REKOWO GÓRNE

THE PALACE IN REKOWO GÓRNE The history of Rekowo began in the medieval era. Records from the 14th Century show that this Kashubian town on the edge of the Darżlubie Forest was a knight’s property, owned by Ścibor of Krostkowo. The building was erected on a small hill, later referred to as the Tomb. This name was used when the building on the top was demolished and replaced with a cemetery for the wealthier local residents. The new palace dates back to the year 1871, when Hagen of Sobowidz initiated the creation of the charming building on the hilltop.

THE PALACE IN REKOWO GÓRNE Today, the manor is home to the Wieniawa Hotel, which offers its guests peace, quiet and comfortable recreational conditions. All this is just a short distance away from the Tricity.

THE PALACE AND PARK COMPLEX IN KROKOWA

THE PALACE AND PARK COMPLEX IN KROKOWA This mediaeval residence of the Krokow family was once just a small castle with two towers situated in the corners. In the 16th Century, Reinhold von Krockow, an officer in the King Zygmunt August’s and King Stefan Batory’s armies, began a redevelopment of his ancestral nest, giving it a Renaissance form. The defensive capacity of the castle was expanded with earthen ramparts and a moat which survived into present times. The baroque shape and palace character visible in the present-day residence result from a redevelopment ordered at the end of the 18th Century by Albert von Krockow, known as Albert the Mad. The palace’s park dates back to this period. The history of the von Krockow family was typical of borderland residents. Its members took different sides in various conflicts arising in their homeland, serving Poland as often as her enemies. The castle survived World War II in a good condition, but during the post-war period when it housed a state farm (a so-called PGR) it was extensively damaged.

THE PALACE AND PARK COMPLEX IN KROKOWA   The castle in Krokowa is an exceptionally handsome and attractive place, an ideal choice for both individual tourists and organised groups, whether interested in tourism, team-building or training. The wealth of leisure facilities available at the hotel, combined with its proximity to the sea, make the place popular among tourists.

THE LISEWSKI MANOR IN LISEWO

THE LISEWSKI MANOR IN LISEWO During the second half of the 16th Century, this property was divided between two families: Dzięcielewski and Jackowski. The former left Lisewo, which brought joy to the local inhabitants, since the family led a dissipated life, which could have led to the wastimng of the property. The Jackowski family ruled until the second half of the 18th Century. This period saw the formation of the village developments and the creation of the manor and park complex.

THE LISEWSKI MANOR IN LISEWO After World War II, the building was owned by the National Agricultural Farms. This period inflicted great damage on both the buildings and the park terrains. In 2010, the building found an owner who proceeded to perform extensive renovations and transformed it into a stylish hotel and restaurant.
