1,Why did the Articles of Confederation fail 1,Why did the Articles of Confederation fail? Was it necessary to change the Articles of Confederation and write a new constitution for the new nation of the United States at the time? Because the states did not cooperate with the Congress or with each other. And Congress had been given no authority to force any state to do anything. Yes, it is. Because the United States needed a new constitution to unite the nation.

2,What is a federal system 2,What is a federal system? What are some of the new nation of the major differences between a federal system and a confederation? A federal system is one in which power is shared between a strong central authority and its constituent parts, with some rights reserved to each.

A federal system has a strong central government A federal system has a strong central government. Under this system, the US is a united country. But a confederation can’t achieve this purpose.

Legislative branch is the branch that can make federal laws, levy federal taxes, declare war or put foreign treaties into effect. Executive branch: the chief executive of the US is the president. The president has the authority to organize government, carry on the law and appoint federal judges. Judicial branch headed by the Supreme Court. federal court have jurisdiction over cases arising out of the Constitution; laws and treaties of the US; maritime cases; issues involving foreign citizens or governments; and cases in which the federal government itself is a party.

If Congress proposes a law that the present thinks is unwise, the president can veto it. If Congress passes a law which is challenged in the courts as unconstitutional, the Supreme Court has the power to declare the law unconstitutional and no longer in effect.
