How do these compare? (comparing expressions) Lesson 6.1.1 How do these compare? (comparing expressions)

Instructions: Put ALL belongings at the back of the room. Take out a pencil and pen. Get your calculator. Grab a sheet from the black cart. Find your seat. Sit silently until I give further instructions.

Bellwork 1)  Matthew has a bag that contains 8 green marbles, 3 orange marbles, and 12 yellow marbles. Without looking, he pulls out a marble, records the color, and then puts it back in the bag. If he does this 200 times, how many times could Matthew expect to pull out a yellow marble? A.  Exactly 120 B. Close to 100, but probably not exactly 100 C.  Exactly 105 D.  Close to 105, but probably not exactly 105 2) Select All that apply. Using the number line below, select all the expressions that could result in the  distance from one point to another point. A.  The distance between point P and point Q can be written as |P| - |Q|. B.   The distance between point R and point Q can be expressed as |6|+|−2|. C. The distance between point P and point R can be written as |−9|−|6|. D.   The distance between −9 and −2 can be expressed as |P| + |Q|  E. The distance between −2 and 6 can be expressed as |Q| - |R|
