The EEF Data Archive: Plans & Priorities James Turner, Deputy CEO

Background Data Archive part of EEF vision from the start – ‘whole will be greater than the sum of its parts’ Make the most of the combined power of data from EEF projects Track the impact of projects longitudinally We now have 58 projects in the archive, managed by FFT, covering 200,000 children in hundreds of schools Process in place to track medium and long term educational impacts of individual EEF projects But what about opportunities to learn across EEF trials?

Priorities ‘Lessons’ from EEF work, e.g. Features of effective interventions – dosage, training models, duration etc. Differential impacts of projects on different groups – particularly FSM Investigate the cumulative impact of projects on schools and pupils Which projects are easiest to implement and why? Methodological questions to improve the quality and cost effectiveness of our work – for example, research design, outcomes, analysis choices Understanding more about other longer term impacts – e.g. progression, earnings, decreases in negative behaviours in adulthood

How to apply Twin track approach: EEF will commission projects in areas of strategic interest Open to other good research ideas Envisage grants typically around c£15-20k – but usefulness of the project to EEF mission is most important Outputs to be agreed on a case-by-case basis Data permissions routed through EEF Please get in touch to discuss ideas: Triin.Edovald@eefoundation.org.uk
