Alexandre Bisdorff UEMS council Meeting 19-20 October 2018 Report WG e-health Alexandre Bisdorff UEMS council Meeting 19-20 October 2018

Digitisation will change every walk of life including health care There was a consensus that the digitalization of health care and artificial intelligence (AI) will not make doctors redundant but change their role and tasks has the potential to make health care more affordable that digital systems across providers, institutions, hospitals and countries should become compatible for data exchange and coding.

Doctors need to play their role in shaping the digitization of health care by Designing and insisting on the implementation of high standards in ethics, and data privacy and safety Insuring that doctors can acquire the new skills needed and also that important “old” clinical skills do not get lost. Insisting that the wealth of data is used for meaningful outcome measures in the evaluation of the quality of care.

Next step to write an opinion paper on this topic to kick off a discussion within the UEMS how these developments should impact on the ETRs and CME.
