Character- the people who are involved in the scene 5 Elements of Any Scene Character- the people who are involved in the scene Action- the movement in the scene Location- where the scene occurs Problem- the struggle the characters face Solution- the end result of the problem

Partner Dialogue You must create a short dialogue that includes all 5 elements of a scene. Character Action Location Problem Solution The tricky part: it must be three sentences or fewer!

Example of partner dialogue Ex. Partner A: Help, Bernie! I got my high heel stuck in this man hole cover. Partner B: No worries, Abby, I’m a fireman. Character- Bernie & Abby Action- Abby is stuck Location- (implied) on the street Problem- Abby’s high heel is stuck in the man hole cover Solution- Bernie is a firefighter

Location practice Locations can be implied based on our actions and interactions with other actors. Practice: you are going to “walk” around the room in a manner that reflects the location given to you by Mrs. Macomber

You need to create a short scene with that location as a setting. Scenes from a hat You will be assigned groups. Each group will draw out of the box a location. You need to create a short scene with that location as a setting. All members of your group must participate equally. Consider what character, action, problem, and solution would best fit that location.

How is location important to a scene’s success? Explain. Journal 4 How is location important to a scene’s success? Explain.
