Third Grade News November Newsletter Writing: Students are writing Dates to Remember 6- No School: Election Day 7- Report Cards 9- 1st Quarter Assembly 8:30 12- No School: Veterans Day 15- Cookie Dough Pickups 2-5:30 pm 21-23 Thanksgiving Break Reading: Students have been studying nonfiction text structures and text features. Students are also learning that the author of an informational text has a point of view and how that point of view may be different from theirs. Math: Students have been learning how addition and subtraction are related and how there are different strategies for adding and subtracting. Finally, students have identified clue words, within word problems, that tell them to add or subtract. Writing: Students are writing Informative pieces to examine a topic and convey information. They will use writing strategies for planning, revising and editing. Finally, students will focus on using correct grammar and punctuation. Social Studies/Science: Students are identifying and comparing characteristics and locations of bodies of water. They are also Identifying and comparing characteristics and locations of the Earth’s land. (Landforms) Other: Please remember to read with your child each night! Other News Early Check-Out: Students are NOT allowed to be checked-out after 2:30 pm. Please remember to sign the November reading log each night! (Purple calendar)
