Case study - Synchrophi Introduction - Scottish Lifesciences Association Device - KEWS300, a CE-marked software suite - captures, stores and presents patient vital signs; calculates MEWS scores MDαT® event held Outcome Evaluation – Ward 3 West (cardiothoracic surgery) Partnership and roll out to all wards Option -‘Once for Scotland’ The Modified Early Warning Score (MEWS) is a simple, physiological score that may allow improvement in the quality and safety of management provided to surgical ward patients. The primary purpose is to prevent delay in intervention or transfer of critically ill patients Partnership – visit to hospitals in Galway where device was in use; further development of system to integrate with patient care e-systems; training staff of evaluation ward Evaluation – Real time patient observations; improvement in calculation of EWS – 100% error free; accurate time for repeat observations Ongoing – GJ is a reference site for the device; roll-out on a cost only basis
