Teacher Introduction Mrs. Heinemann 15th year at MVMS Social Studies and Science Teacher Enjoys riding horses and spending time with family Mrs. D’Agostino 5th year at MVMS Language Arts Teacher Enjoys coaching softball and spending time outdoors. Language Arts New Program- Wonders Our Language Arts block consists of both whole group and small group instruction daily. Students will be completing various writing prompts weekly that relate to stories that we read in class. Cursive handwriting is integrated within the Wonders curriculum.

Math Big Ideas Enhances mathematical and problem solving skills Website offers lesson tutorials, interactive manipulatives, flashcards, and games (there is no reason for the students to bring their book home) Homework Practice sheets given daily and posted on my website.

Social Studies In Social Studies we will cover topics such as: Geography Civics and Government General Economic Concepts Ancient Civilizations Including: -Ancient Greece -Ancient Egypt -Ancient Rome -Ancient China *Students use an interactive notebook in class to help teach organizational skills.

Science We we be using the Pearson Elevate Science Program. Focusing on collaboration, innovation, hands on activities, and 3-dimensional leaning. Each student will get a Science textbook. We will be using real world tasks. Open ended investigations and the engineering and design process.

Homework Assignments All homework assignments are posted on our website. Students are required to write their homework in their agenda books on a DAILY basis. They are given the opportunity to work on their homework 3 days a week during the A.C.E. block. Social Studies: Current Events, GQ’s and Mystery locations are due on Thursdays. Projects and other assignments vary due to the lesson. LA: Reading log due on Mondays, Grammar, and Spelling tests on Friday. Math: Daily Worksheet Science: Homework varies with the lesson and students are given time to complete work at school.

Friendly Reminders Breakfast begins serving at 8:10am Morning drop off is at 7:45am and the students are required to go to the library until 8:00am. Late bus sign up by 3:00 in the office
