SQA Requirements Component Marks Duration Question Paper 110 2 hours Assignment 50 8 hours
Question Paper Represents 69% of the overall marks All questions are compulsory Section 1 (25 marks) – short answer, restricted response questions Section 2 (85 marks) – structured questions consisting of extended responses, which may require analysis, comparisons and evaluations SQA Exam will take place on Tuesday 22 May 2018
Assignment Represents 31% of the overall marks Made up of 3 distinct tasks: Software Design and Development (25 marks) Database Design and Development (10-15 marks) Web Design and Development (10-15 marks) The change here is that evidence is now submitted to SQA for external marking This must be completed by the end of March
Preliminary Examinations These are scheduled to take place: 10 – 23 JANUARY 2018
Pupils Not Coping at National 5 Following unsatisfactory performance in Prelim Exam, some pupils may be recommended to move to National 4 Pupils will then complete a range of tasks in each of the following areas: Software Design and Development Computer Systems Database Design and Development Web Design and Development Pupils will also have to complete an Added Value Unit ALL Assessment tasks require to be completed by Friday 27 April 2017
What Can You Do To Support Your Child? Encourage them to attend class every period Ensure that any homework issued is completed Encourage them to ask for help if experiencing difficulty Supported study is available Thursday lunchtimes
