CHAPTER 7: tables Word provides the possibility to create a table in an easy way, and can control the type of frame, colors, fonts, and the possibility of arranging content alphabetically. There are several ways to draw a table, the most efficient is: Insert < click icon < Insert Table< the following window will appear

The desired table will be drawn on the page view The desired table will be drawn on the page view. For example, when selecting a table consisting of four columns and three lines: To select all table cells: Place the pointer over the table < The figure will appear in the upper-left corner of the table, click on it to select all table cells. Uses the same handle to move the table on the work page

To manually change the table's measurements: Place the pointer over the table< click on the shape will appear in the lower right corner < Drag the table to the desired size To change the width of a particular column: Place the pointer on the border between that column and the adjacent column, and the pointer will turn to ( ╫ )< click with drag to the desired width.

To change the height of a particular line: Place the pointer on the border between that line and the adjacent line and the pointer will turn to (╪) < click with drag to the required height. To accurately resize the table (in units of measure): shaded of each table (or a particular line or column)< Right click on the shaded area < Table properties < the following window will appear:

The height of cells can be determined from a page Row as shown:

The width of cells can be determined from a page Column as shown

To select a column: Place the pointer outside the table above the column you want to select, the pointer will change to one click and the entire column will be selected To select a Row: Place the pointer outside the table above the row you want to select, the pointer will change to double click and the entire row will be selected... To fill the table data, click inside the desired cell and start typing. You can change the typeface settings inside the table as in plain text:

When the table is full, you can add new lines by repeating a key Tab from keyboard To paste a line into the table: Right click inside the table where you want to paste a line or column into it< choose the appropriate option:

When you zoom in on the table, the writings will stack in the corners of the cells, to centre the writing in the cells: shaded the table <right click < Cell Alignment< Select the desired shape:

To change the color of the table window, or change the window style: shaded the table < click Design bar < Select the appropriate settings: To change the write direction: Select the desired cells < Right click < Text Direction < Select the desired direction from the adjacent window

To merge multiple cells: shaded the cells to be merged < Right click < Merge Cells To divide a cell into several cells: Click inside the cell to split < Right click < Split Cells < The following window will appear: To arrange table lines (Ascending or Descending , depending on the content of a particular column based on numerical values or text): Click inside the table < click Layout bar < click icon The following window will appear:

For example, to arrange the table in descending order based on the values of students in physics:

To find the sum of column elements, add a line at the end of the table < click in the empty cell under the desired column to find the sum of its elements < click Layout bar < click icon <A window will appear click the button OK< The total will appear in the empty cell under the table

To find the sum of row elements, add a colomn at the end of the table < click in the empty cell after the line you want to find the sum of its elements < click Layout bar < click icon <A window will appear click the button OK< The total will appear in the empty cell under the table

To clear a specific cell window: Click inside the table < click Design bar < click icon < Click the parts to clear, and when finished click the button Esc from keyboard To delete a full line (or full column): Click inside any cell of the line (or column) you want to delete < right click < Delete < The following window will appear: To clear all the table: Shaded the table < Right Click < Delete Table.
