Methodology vs. Method Methodology Method The end of any scientific or non-scientific research. The actual tools/steps taken by which you conduct research into a subject or a topic. It is the beginning. The technique(s)/how to conduct research. The study about the tools of research. Explains the methods by which you may proceed with your research.

Methodology vs. Method cont.. Paves the way for research methods to be conducted properly. Involves the learning of the various techniques that can be used in the conduct of research. Aims at the employment of the correct procedures to find solutions to research problems. Involves conducting experiments, tests, surveys and the like. Aims at finding solutions to research problems.

Example Topic ‘Employment of figures of speech in English literature’ Research methodology -involves the study about the tools of research, collation of various manuscripts related to the topic, techniques involved in the critical edition of these manuscripts and the like. Comparative analysis-can be quantitative or qualitative, measures different study subjects against one another to better understand how they differ or are similar. Textual analysis-is the analysis of the literature and language of the study group. Case studies provide in-depth overviews of single units of study. Historical/narrative models largely draw on collecting and relating events to understand a particular historical, social or economic model.
