Graph Dancing Start! Box to make timings work!

He will guide you through the exciting world of Egyptian Graph Dancing! This is Anubis.

How do we do…? y = x 3

y = ¼ x 3 y = 2x 3 y = x 3 y = -x3 y = (x + 1)3 y = (x - 1)3 So, let’s put it all together! So what would this be? Can we do this one? And finally… y = ¼ x 3 y = 2x 3 y = x 3 “Right arm higher, left arm lower…” “Right arm up, left arm down…” “Both arms flatter…” How would you do this one? What about this? y = -x3 y = (x + 1)3 y = (x - 1)3

Here comes the final challenge! y = -(x + 1)3 And stop! y = 10x 3 y = -x 3 y = (x + 5)3 Still alive? I’m impressed… Did you get it? Well done! y = | x 3 | Use your brains… Here comes the final challenge! y = (x – 5)3 y = (x – 1)3 y = ½ x 3 y = 5x 3 y = 2x 3 y = x 3 Let’s go! Keeping up so far? Think fast! y = (x + 5)3 y = x 3 y = (x + 2)3 y = (x + 1)3 y = x 3 Are you ready?

How do we do…? y = e x

y = e x “Right arm up high, left arm to the side…”

y = e -x y = e x + e x y = -e -x y = e |x| y = e 3x e -5x y = e x e x Now it gets a bit trickier! Good job! y = -e -x y = e |x| And you’re done! y = e 3x e -5x y = e x e x y = 5 - e x y = e x - 5 Just think carefully… I’m not going to tell you everything! No? Don’t worry, it starts easy! y = e x y = e x + 5 y = -e x y = 5e x Are you ready?

How do we do…? y = log x

y = log x “Right arm goes flat, left arm points down…”

y = log (x2) y = log (1/x) y = ½ log x y = 5log x y = log x Now the gloves come off! y = log (x2) y = log (1/x) y = ½ log x y = 5log x …because you’re going to need them! But I suppose we should start easy. y = log x I hope you remember your log rules…
