Charge Get informed of current instrument status and associated tasks https://indico.esss.lu.se/event/1087/attachments/479/11860/Charge_for_ImagingEngineering_STAP.pdf Get informed of current instrument status and associated tasks The Imaging and Engineering STAP has now entered a regular cycle of twice-yearly meetings, with spring meetings by video-conferencing and physical meetings in the autumn. The coming meeting will thus cover more content and be able to go into more detail than was possible in April. AGENDA The instrument teams from the two instruments in this class, ODIN and BEER, will provide an overview of the instrument progress on day 1 of the meeting. Day 2 of the meeting will start with an excursion to the V20 beamline, followed by a demonstration of the instrument control system and WFM diffraction results obtained at V20. DMSC will present the status for event formation and DAQ as well as plans for data reduction. SAD will present on a sample positioning system. Discussions among all participants are a vital component and encouraged throughout the meeting.

Charge https://indico.esss.lu.se/event/1087/attachments/479/11860/Charge_for_ImagingEngineering_STAP.pdf At their meeting in May 2018, the SAC asked ESS to prepare and present plans at the coming meetings for delivering early science on the instruments and to show how these plans are aligned with the plans for DMSC and SAD. They also asked NSS management to prepare a capability gap analysis to guide the selection of instruments 16-22. At the last ESS Council meeting, ESS was asked to consider backup plans in case of delays to the first three instruments: ODIN, DREAM, LOKI Charge for the instrument teams: Prepare presentations about the instrument progress and present at the meeting. Present plans for technical and scientific hot commissioning in coordination with DMSC and SAD. Identify hot topics and raise them at the meeting. Charge for NSS management: Organise the meeting. Provide feedback on the actions identified at the last STAP meeting. Prepare a draft capability gap analysis for presentation and feedback at the meeting.

Charge Charge for the STAP: https://indico.esss.lu.se/event/1087/attachments/479/11860/Charge_for_ImagingEngineering_STAP.pdf Charge for the STAP: To what extent is the progress of the instrument projects consistent with the planned timeline? To what extent are the instrument projects on track for delivering early science? To what extent are the plans for technical and scientific hot commissioning suited to operate the instrument successfully and to deliver early science? To what extent are plans of the ESS groups (in particular DMSC and SAD) suited to ensure that technical and scientific hot commissioning can take place at the instruments? To what extent are the instrument project plans aligned with the plans of DMSC and SAD? What scope do you see for backup scenarios in case of a delay to ODIN? Comment on and suggest improvements to the capability gap analysis The findings and recommendations should be formulated in a report for presentation at the SAC meeting on 24-25 Oct 2018.
