Introduction to Globalization

Don’t write this: How are teachers and students interdependent??? What is Globalization? The process by which the world’s citizens (and nations) are becoming increasingly connected and interdependent. Interdependence – when citizens and nations depend on each other in different ways Don’t write this: How are teachers and students interdependent???

Imports and exports between different countries are an example of globalization. Exporting goods is an important part of Canada’s economy When countries exchange goods and services it is called international trade

Transnationals are companies that operate in two or more countries Transnationals often use outsourcing to increase profits. Example: Nike shoes made in China where workers get paid much less than here

Globalization also affects social and cultural aspects of a nation. Music, clothing, TV, and movies can be shared internationally.
