Each journal response is worth a total of three points Each journal response is worth a total of three points. Journals must be typed in MLA format and fill a total of one page.

1. Clarify what is going on. Be precise but be efficient 1. Clarify what is going on. Be precise but be efficient. If it’s a journal or article, summarize the essentials. If it’s an image point out what is being seen. 2. Point out both sides of the issue at hand or ask yourself “What makes this controversial?”. 3. State your reaction to the piece. Is this argument logical? Does it successfully appeal to your emotions? Do you find this a credible piece of writing?

Grading: 3- Complete, insightful, conventionally sound Grading: 3- Complete, insightful, conventionally sound. 2-Lacking in at least one area. This may mean the piece is complete and conventionally sound but possesses flawed insight. 1-Lacking in at least two areas. This may mean that the piece gets at some fine insight but lacks in completion and conventional soundness.
