The summary on the current status of strategic statistical planning in DPRK

STATISTICAL SYSTEM AND STATISTICAL ACTIVETIES - Centralised statistical agency system and unified statistical activity system were established statistical agency system CBS ministries/central organs provincial statistical bureau city/county statistical office factory/enterprise statistical office

CBS is the departmental executive body of the cabinet . CBS arrange and give guidance to the statistical works of the whole country based on the lines and policies of the government, hold all the national statistical agencies and statistical cells under control. All procedures of designing report forms, indicators, report intervals, methodology, etc. are unified to collect data so as to enhance scientific accuracy, completeness, objectiveness and timeliness.

The legislation and regulation The function and the role of the statistical agencies are stipulated in statistical law. Government has enforced the statistical law during the whole period of statistical activity. 《the DPRK Statistics Law》as the decision of standing commission of the supreme people’s committee No.76 Nov. 13th, 1996 was adopted.

The statistical capacity building The staff members, who have already graduated regular education , have been reeducated. CBS has established network and database for statistical data. CBS has access to international standard statistical methodology by cooperating with international organizations such as UNDP, UNESCAP,UNSIAP,UNFPA,UNICEF. The budget of the Government is allocated regularly every year.
