2 Timothy 3 In the last days difficult times will come. 2 For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, 4 treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power;

2 Timothy 4 I solemnly charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead . . . 2 preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction. 3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, 4 and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths.

1 John 3:1-10 Borrowing one of ours? NASB Pg. 1219 Espanol Pg. 1598

What is . . . Lawlessness (work of Satan) habitually commits living in an on-going condition

What is . . . Act (what you do) Attitude (what we think) Any failure to conform to the moral law of God in . . . as defined by Wayne Grudem Act (what you do) Attitude (what we think) Nature (who we are)

What is . . . “Humanity both inherits a sinful nature and every person is indeed responsible for his/her choice of sin.” Billy E. Simmons, Holman Bible Dictionary James 4.17 “The one who knows the right thing to do and does not do it, to him it is sin.”

5 Truths Sin is universal and separates us from God God hates and judges the sin AND the sinner God hears the cry of the repentant sinner and forgives sin The Unforgiveable Sin Homosexuality is NOT that sin

SIN IS UNIVERSAL AND SEPARATES US FROM GOD

‘HAMARTIA’ – “miss the mark” 1. SIN IS UNIVERSAL AND SEPARATES US FROM GOD Rom. 3.10-12 “none righteous, not even one” Rom. 3.23 “all have sinned and fall short”   ‘HAMARTIA’ – “miss the mark” James 2.10 “whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles in one point, he has become guilty of all.” Is. 53.6 “all of us like sheep have gone astray” Rom. 6.23 “the wages of sin is death” Rom. 5.12 “death spread to all men”

GOD HATES AND JUDGES THE SIN AND THE SINNER

2. GOD HATES AND JUDGES THE SIN AND THE SINNER Against His nature Separates us from Him Enslaves and destroys us Lessens our love for Him

Psalm 5.4-5 For You are not a God who takes pleasure in wickedness; No evil dwells with You. The boastful shall not stand before Your eyes; You hate all who do iniquity. Psalm 11.5 The Lord tests the righteous and the wicked, and the one who loves violence His soul hates. Psalm 7.11 God is a righteous judge, and a God who has indignation every day. Psalm 34.16 The Lord is against evildoers, to cut off the memory of them from the earth.

If God did not hate sin, He would not be holy If God did not hate sin, He would not be holy . . . If God did not hate sinners, He would not be just.

John 3.16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.” John 3.36 “He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.”

How can we know who is saved? “A consistent pattern of disobedience to Christ coupled with a lack of the elements of the fruit of the Holy Spirit is a warning signal that the person is probably not a true Christian inwardly, that there probably has been NO genuine heart faith from the beginning and NO regenerating work of the Holy Spirit.” (Wayne Grudem)

GOD HEARS THE REPENTANT AND FORGIVES

3. GOD HEARS THE REPENTANT AND FORGIVES SIN 1 John 1:8-9 8 If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His word is not in us.

3. GOD HEARS THE REPENTANT AND FORGIVES SIN   Proverbs 28.13 He who conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will find compassion.

GOD HEARS THE REPENTANT AND FORGIVES

“Fallen man is not simply an imperfect creature   “Fallen man is not simply an imperfect creature who needs improvement; he is a rebel who must lay down his arms.” --- C.S. Lewis

1 Cor. 6.9-10 . . . 9 Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, 10 nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God.

1 Cor. 6.11 but you were washed, but you were sanctified, 11 Such were some of you; but you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.
