Blood Groups It’s important to know the classification of blood, especially in blood transfusions, because the wrong blood could be fatal. Two main genes for blood type: Rh ABO

Blood Groups: Rh Single gene 2 alleles (+) or (-)  Rh+ is dominant to Rh-

Blood Groups: ABO 3 alleles: IA, IB, i Based on which antigen is produced on the RBC (A, B, AB, or neither) IA and IB are codominant, i is recessive Type O blood is the result of ii (no antigen)
