Welcome to SAT-10 Parent Night

Introduction to the SAT-10 The Stanford Achievement Test measures students’ achievement in Reading, Language Arts and Mathematics. This Tenth Edition of the Stanford Test provides updated content that reflects the national curriculum and new educational trends.

How does data from SAT 10 support learning ? Administrators: obtain data to document and monitor the progress of all children according to federal mandates. Teachers: receive specific information to support instructional planning for individual students and the class. Parents: better understand their child’s achievement level and get direction for home involvement.

Who takes the SAT test? The SAT-10 is given to students in Kindergarten, grade 1 and grade 2 in the district.

What is the format of the test? Testing will take place among two days- one reading session and one math session. It consists of multiple choice questions. All students K-2 will have practice test materials.

Test administration Teachers read directions verbatim once. There is a Reading Comprehension subtest. Students read short sentences or passages on their own. Students are allowed to underline or circle key words in the questions. Math questions can only be read once.

Can a student fail the SAT? No, students do not pass or fail the test. Test results show what they have learned and what they can do.

Scoring Scores are reported as percentile ranks ranging from 1-99. Scores are also reported in stanines, ranging from a low of 1 to a high of 9. The national average is the 50th percentile.
