RELIGIOUS PLURALISM IN CANADA

Learning Goals Understand how a multicultural society leads to the need for religious pluralism Understand the religious make up of Canada Know the chronological order of the origins of various world religions Understand the difference in polar terms such as: Monotheism vs. Polytheism

WHAT IS MULTICULTURALISM? Canadian multiculturalism is fundamental to our belief that all citizens are equal. Multiculturalism ensures that all citizens can keep their identities, can take pride in their ancestry and have a sense of belonging. This encourages racial and ethnic harmony and cross-cultural understanding, and discourages hatred, discrimination and violence.

COMPARING POINTS MONOTHEISM POLYTHEISM The belief in many Gods.   This includes such religions as: Hinduism and Greek civilization.
