ENQUIRY Q3: 4A.7 UK government policy decisions play a key role in regeneration

HS2 promotional link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kPU7i5RaOfU Manchester Airport Investment https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4OFbjJoqtn4 Task 1: Use page 37 (from How is Regeneration Managed) to page 38 (first three bullet points) to complete page 4A.7a.

Stockport’s greenbelt is under threat due to a national demand for housing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oCc5jhPcVzk Task 2: Use the rest of page 38 and your own knowledge to complete sheet 4A.7b

Once you are happy with your plan write your response. Sky news: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CNrELLTYAeo Task 3: Using the clip above (make notes as you watch it) and page 39 complete sheet 4A.7c. Plan the 20 mark response at the end of the sheet. You will need to include aspects from the entire Key Idea 4A.7 to answer the question. You must EVALUATE throughout. In what ways are UK government decisions KEY/NOT KEY in regeneration projects? Make sure you have conclusion – see next slide for standard marking criteria. Once you are happy with your plan write your response.

Review of learning Read another student’s response. Highlight specific examples that back up the points made. Examiners do not wish to read everything you know about Manchester Airport’s investment – instead you should have variety of examples to make your response have breadth as well as depth. You need to demonstrate understanding of the wide and important role governments play in regeneration. Underline all evaluative statements. There should be at least one per paragraph. Most importantly there should be a robust conclusion drawing together the valid points from your response. This MUST evaluate. Then two stars and a wish. Extra: You may wish to rewrite your conclusion.
