Sensitive Applications for Plastic Additive Products Antioxidants Process stabilizers UV absorbers Light stabilizers Clarifying agents Nucleating agents Antistatic agents Slip agents Acid neutralizers Visbreakers We both support the BASF Plastic Additives business. Our business is a global one which encompasses approximately 15 production and blending sites throughout the world. These sites serve their regions but also the global market either via direct sales or via our customers’ supply chains. We either supply or utilize in blends the following additives. They go into many types of applications including food packaging and water pipe as well as pharma packaging and cosmetics. The majority of products in our portfolio have some compliance in sensitive applications. 2019 International Polyolefins Conference

Why start with Food Contact? Food Contact is a fundamental requirement for many sensitive regulations! Product Safety Construction Products in Contact with Drinking Water Cosmetic Packaging Pharma Packaging / Medical Devices Food Contact 2019 International Polyolefins Conference

Food Regulation Compliance Compliance with food contact regulations involves 5 aspects: Listing of the product on the positive list – Declaration of Compliance Byproducts and residuals are controlled within safe levels Degradation products from normal use must be assessed Adequate control of product purity (major requirement for shared facilities) Specific quality management system components This is one of the most important, time consuming and expensive parts of bringing a new product to market. We must conduct tox testing, analytical characterization, and migration testing from different plastics into multiple food simulants Product purity relates especially to shared facilities and possible cross contamination with other products. Re: NIAS. We as producer have the obligation to assure the safety of components in our products but not included on the regulatory positive list The FCCs and GMP declarations commit the company to meeting the requirements. Customers expect BASF to be the benchmark in these aspects 2019 International Polyolefins Conference INTERN

Definitions - GMP GMP: Good Manufacturing Practices As defined by specific regulations 21 CFR 174.5 General provisions applicable to indirect food additives Good manufacturing practices [are] defined to include the following restrictions: Quantity limited by prescribed limits, technical effect in article, no intended effect in food Any substance used as a component of articles that contact food shall be of a purity suitable for its intended use Existence of a prescribed limit does not exclude from meeting other requirements Article 3 of EC Regulation 1935/2004 (The Framework Regulation) "Materials and articles.... shall be manufactured in compliance with good manufacturing practice so that, under normal or foreseeable conditions of use, they do not transfer their constituents to food in quantities which could: Endanger human health or bring about an unacceptable change in the composition of the food or bring about a deterioration of the organoleptic characteristics thereof 2019 International Polyolefins Conference

Changes from New EU Regulations EC 2023/2007; EC 10/2011 More explicit requirements for the quality system Management responsibility Training Evaluation of starting materials Documentation More explicit requirements for Quality Control Monitoring of GMP attainment Corrective actions for failures NIAS are defined to include impurities, reaction intermediates from the production process and reaction or degradation products Risk assessment in accordance with internationally recognized scientific principles 2019 International Polyolefins Conference

In their safety assessment, the competent authority concluded that the toxicity profile is insufficient to come up with a clear statement and more data on the genotoxicity potential of Arvin VIII should be generated. ELiSANA embarked a testing program on assessing further the toxicity profile of reaction products 2019 International Polyolefins Conference
