English Language Arts (ELA) Shared reading Integrated Science and Social Studies Small Guided Reading Groups / Daily 5 Pathways Program: Phonemic & Phonetic Awareness Spelling Weekly Lists Daily spelling practice Pretest on Wednesday: If student receives 10/10 they will take the mystery/challenge test on Friday. All students test on Friday. Type in your classroom rules.

Sight Words Sight words come home on Friday of this week. Your child may test one list a week. They must read the list fluently in 30 seconds or less. After they pass a list a new list will come home to practice.

Homework Practice Spelling Words: Online practice of spelling words can be found at www.spellingcity.com. Click find a list, then search by zip code 64078, then click Sheri Capper. Weekly Reading Booklog: Students are encouraged to read and record their reading on the reading log. Students will receive a reading log on the last day of each week. Students need return their reading log on the final day of the week. Student may fill out the reading log but an adult must sign it. Math Homework is sent home on Tuesday and needs to be return on the last day of the week. Insert info or delete slide.

Library Expectations We will have weekly classroom visits with a library lesson and check out. Students will be able to return books on a daily basis. Rereading Library books can aid in: Fluency Decoding Comprehension Insert info or delete slide.

Snacks/Birthdays We have snack time daily in the afternoon. Easy to open snacks that do not require a fork or spoon. Water bottles with sports tops are encouraged. Newsletter Newsletters are sent home via email on the last day of last day of the week with important weekly and monthly information. Please check your child’s backpack nightly for important information. Please refer to the teachers weebly website for newsletters, spelling words, sight words etc. Insert info or delete slide.
