Church: Who Sees It?

1. God 2. You 3. Others

A paraphrase of 1 Corinthians 13:12-13

we don’t see things clearly. Right now we don’t see things clearly. It’s like looking underwater without a mask,

or trying to do your hair without a mirror;

you have to guess what you’re actually seeing. or looking in a room with light so dim you have to guess what you’re actually seeing.

Is what you think you see the way things really are? How well can you do? Is what you think you see the way things really are?

One day we will be able to see things clearly—the way God sees things right now!

your most important way to deal with the uncertainty is to LOVE! Until that time comes, your most important way to deal with the uncertainty is to LOVE!

Church: Who Sees It?

1. God 2. You 3. Others

We will adjust our focus to the last 2: You & Others

2

Church: Who Sees It?

Maybe we can “see” better without our eyes!

Let’s: “Taste and see that the Lord is good!”

What do you SEE when you look at your church?

What do others who attend your church SEE when they look at your church?

What do others who aren’t part of your church SEE when they look at your church?

suddenly disappeared, who would notice? If your church suddenly disappeared, who would notice? Who wouldn’t notice? WHY?

What would you like to SEE at your church?

What would you like to SEE in your church?

Where is the primary focus at your church: God Those inside the church Those outside the church

In your church, what do you think should stay the same?

What are you doing to make that happen?

In your church, what do you think should change?

What will you do to make that happen?

you want for your church? How do you discern what God wants for your church and not merely what you want for your church?

A paraphrase of 1 Samuel 9:9

When God’s people want to find out what God’s message is for them,

they look for someone who is called a “SEER”

because a “SEER” can SEE what God’s message is.

Prophet

Prophet One who has a message from God

Priest One who connects God with people, and connects people with God

Church: Who Sees It?

Forget about a better image of your church.

Forget about a better image of your church. SEE God and Connect with God
