The Book of Romans The Gospel of God

31 What then shall we say to these things 31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us? 32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him over for us all, how will He not also with Him freely give us all things? 33 Who will bring a charge against God’s elect? God is the one who justifies; 34 who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is He who died, yes, rather who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

36 Just as it is written, “For Your sake we are being put to death all day long; We were considered as sheep to be slaughtered.” 37 But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:31-39)

Romans 8:31-39 A Celebration of Our Security in Christ

“If God is for us…” “Who is against us?” (v. 31) “Who will bring a charge against God’s elect?” (v.33) “Who is the one who condemns?” (v. 34) “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?” (v.35)

No Separation 1. No Adversity no adverse circumstance experienced by Christians can separate us from the love of Christ all these adversities have the potential of destroying our faith in Christ…but they cannot!

No Separation [ No Exemptions] Christians are not exempt from these adversities, but experience them in greater measure for Lord’s sake (Psalm 44:22)

No Separation 2. No Defeat we do not merely endure or escape these adversities but are completely victorious in them these adversities not only do us no spiritual harm but they work for our ultimate good

No Separation 3. No Exceptions Paul covers the whole range of created things – none can separate us from God’s love!

No Separation 3. No Exceptions death or life – two states of existence angles or rulers – all spiritual beings, good or evil present or future – all circumstances or events height or depth – the entire universe any other created thing – no exceptions!

No Separation “from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord” the love of God and the love of Christ are inseparable this saving, enduring love of God is found only in Christ Jesus
