Inflation After the war, Americans rushed to buy consumer goods Goods became scarce causing a rise prices Wages did not rise, and workers began to strike for higher wages and shorter work days.

Red Scare ( Red = Communists) Fear of Radicals and communists Palmer Raids- thousands of people arrested, some radicals, others just immigrants from southern and eastern Europe Civil liberties were violated and ignored ACLU starts to defend those accused. American Civil Liberties Union

Henry Ford Doubles the wages from $2.35 dollars per day to $5 dollars per day 9 to 8 hour days and gave weekends off. Why shorten the work day? So more Americans could travel in their Model T on the weekends!
