Scatter Plots Unit 11 B
Scatter Plot A graph of plotted points that show the relationship between two sets of data
Bivariate Data A data that has two variables. (accuracy and speed)
Categorical Data A data that can be grouped by characteristics
Cluster Where most of the data is gathered
Outlier Data that lies “outside” of most of the data; data that is distinctly separate from other data
Correlation Relationship between two variables
Positive Correlation Relationship between two variables in which both variables react in the same way
Negative Correlation Relationship between two variables in which variables react in the opposite ways
No Correlation Relationship between two variables is non- existent
Linear Association Two variables have a relationship with a constant rate of change (slope)
Non-Linear Association Two variables do NOT have a relationship with a constant rate of change (slope)
Line of Best Fit A straight line that best represents the data on a scatter plot
Trend Line An extended line of best fit used to make predictions about future data
