Lesson 2 Communication for online learning In High School Course: Preparing for College & Career

Communication Come across as professional and polite Make people more willing to help you Get higher grades In this lesson you will learn about the communication expectations for this course, and for online learning in general. There are several advantages of communicating well in online environments. First, communicating well allows you to come across as professional and polite Not only does this give people a good impression of you, but it also makes people more willing to help you because they feel that you have been kind and respectful to them and this encourages them to treat you in the same way. In addition, following the guidelines for online communication can help you to get higher grades, since communicating clearly and professionally is often one of the aspects graded in discussions and assignments in online courses, including in this course. Lesson Activities Watch video about communication expectations and discussion forum Watch video about online course etiquette Set up a schedule for completing this course You will start this lesson by watching a video about the communication expectations for this course and about how to use the discussion forum Then, you will watch a video about general communication etiquette for online courses Finally, you will do an assignment where you set up a schedule for working through this course, keeping in mind the communication expectations as you complete the assignment.

Treat others as you want to be treated results Polite, appropriate communication is essential for success in the online environment. You will go through specific guidelines to use as you work through this course, but the bottom line of online communication is the same as it is for communication in general: treat others as you would want to be treated.
