Matthew 5:1-12 – “And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him: And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying, Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. Blessed are the

peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.”

v.9 – “Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called the children of God”

I. The Source of Peace Is God ₋ God is at perfect peace with Himself ₋ Judges 6:24 – “Jehovah-shalom” – The Lord, our peace Jeremiah 29:11 – “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”

I. The Source of Peace Is God ₋ God is at perfect peace with Himself ₋ Judges 6:24 – “Jehovah-shalom” – The Lord, our peace ₋ Jesus Christ is God’s peace maker Ephesians 2:14 – “For He is our peace” Isaiah 9:6 – “Prince of peace”

II. The Enemy of Peace is Sin James 4:1-4 – “From whence come wars and fightings among you? Come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members? Ye lust, and have not, ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain, ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not. Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts. Ye adulterers and adulteresses know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? Whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.”

II. The Enemy of Peace Sin ₋ The world – v.4 ₋ The flesh – v.1 ₋ The devil – v.7 ₋ A believer living in sin is a troublemaker, because sin is an enemy of peace

III. The Minister of Peace Is the Christian ₋ We have experienced God’s peace, therefore we can share it Romans 5:1 – “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” Philippians 4:7 – “And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Colossians 3:15 – “And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body, and be ye thankful.”

IV. The Merits of God’s Peace ₋ How do you become a peacemaker? Romans 5:5 – “The love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.” Galatians 5:22 – “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace.”
