The brain The brain is malleable and flexible. Our neural pathways can be increased and changed by the actions we take, such as using good strategies, persevering and practicing. As a result of consistent practice, neural networks grow new connections and strengthen existing ones.

The brain and growth mindset Teaching young people about the brain can have a transformative impact in the classroom as it highlights the fact that intelligence and ability can be developed. Developing an understanding that the brain has the ability to change and grow increases motivation to learn, creates positive beliefs and raises perceptions of what is achievable.
