CWPAN Working Meeting (July 15) <month year> doc.: IEEE 802.15-<doc#> Nov. 2007 CWPAN Working Meeting (July 15) Reviewed the LR-WPAN Std D7.2 Version Attended proposal presentation from IA and Freescale (Presented by Dr. K.H.Chen) about adopting the OQPSK modulation to CWPAN’s LR-WPAN std. Dr. Pei Liu (Hisilicon) reported the super-frame modification on CWPAN Chinese Std Institute introduced the R&D progress for Chip Evaluation Instrument and Procedure under CPWAN std. Liang Li (Vinno) <author>, <company>

Activities of CWPAN Std Group Nov. 2007 Activities of CWPAN Std Group In 08/2007, one working meeting with IEEE1451 chair. In 09/2007, Invited Dr. Bob Heile to visit BJ and ZGC government and gave IEEE/Zigbee presentations to BJ industry officers. In 09/2007, a special meeting with Zigbee committee, invited CWPAN members of Freescale to give the proposal to PHY layer In 09/2007, a plenary meeting, finished the tech selection In 10/2007, a working meeting for tech edition of CWPAN In 11/2007, a meeting for application of CWPAN in HongZhong city. In this city, one WSN association is being promoted. Liang Li (Vinno)

The Short Minutes of Sept CWPAN Plenary meeting (1) Nov. 2007 The Short Minutes of Sept CWPAN Plenary meeting (1) On Sept 19 and 20, 2007, one CWPN plenary was held in ChongQing. There were over 30 companies, institutes and universities attending the meeting. The major issues were : Finial Tech selections for LR-WPAN The Proposals for HR-WPAN The tech proposals for WSN. (Here, only LR-WPAN activities were listed.) Liang Li (Vinno)

The Short Minutes of Sept CWPAN Plenary meeting (2) Nov. 2007 The Short Minutes of Sept CWPAN Plenary meeting (2) The Chair of Plenary meeting is Ms. Lan Zhu. The tech chair is Liang Li. The WGN meeting was started at 9 am. From 9:00 am to 10:00 am, Liang and Dr. Liu gave the full introduction of CWPAN recent activities, especially, the co-meeting with Zigbee and IEEE802.15.4C. Liang introduced the presentation and proposals from IA and Freescale. IA and Freescale proposed the OQPSK modulation + RC filter being one alternative PHY solution . The benefits for this proposal are : The tech is proven at 915MHz band The theoretical performance is slightly different to MPSK modulation. It is possible the processing requirement of OQPSK is less than MPSK. Otherwise, Liang suggested that commercial security of LR-CPWAN is same as IEEE802.15.4-2006. All of attendees decided to have a full discussion in the afternoon. Liang Li (Vinno)

The Short Minutes of Sept CWPAN Plenary meeting (3) Nov. 2007 The Short Minutes of Sept CWPAN Plenary meeting (3) Form 10:30 am to 3:00 pm, two sub-group held their meetings separately: UWB and WSN proposals. 3:30 pm, all of attendees met together again. Liang Li listed two discussion topics: The MPSK and OQPSK modulation tech are chosen to be the PHY layer solutions of LR-CWPAN alternatively The MPSK is chosen to be mandatory and OQPSK is chosen to be optional in CWPAN std. All of attendees discussed the advantages and weakness of two tech and possibility of A) and B). After 30 min. discussion, the initial conclusions are: The performance of MPSK is better than OQPSK in simulation The anti frequency offset of MPSK is better. The OQPSK tech is a proven tech in WPAN transceiver at 2.4GHz only. The processing requirements of OQPSK may be smaller than MPSK. Both of PHY tech may use the same RF module. Liang Li (Vinno)

The Short Minutes of Sept CWPAN Plenary meeting (4) Nov. 2007 The Short Minutes of Sept CWPAN Plenary meeting (4) Based on the discussion, the government preventives indicate if the MPSK being promoted by Chinese companies and have the same or better performance, the government std committee would select MPSK as the primitive one. Motion 1: Vinno gave one motion: The CCM* used in IEEE802.15.4-2006, is accepted as the commercial security method in CWPAN std. All of attendants having the voting rights to vote and accept this motion. Motion 2: Hisilicon, and Vinno gave one motion: The MPSK is chosen to be mandatory and OQPSK is chosen to be optional in CWPAN std. All of attendants having the voting rights to agree this motion. However, all of attendants having the voting rights, agree to vote this motion after discussing with members in IEEE802.15.4C meeting at Hawaii in the morning of Friday (Sept. 20) Liang Li (Vinno)

The Short Minutes of Sept CWPAN Plenary meeting (4) Nov. 2007 The Short Minutes of Sept CWPAN Plenary meeting (4) On Sept 20, the conference call between CPWAN and member of IEEE802.15.4C was built up at 9:30 am. Dr. KH Chen, the member of Freescale, gave one presentation: “ CWPAN Alternative PHY Proposal” The CWPAN attendants discussed the proposal. The discussion conclusion is: The major advantages of OQPSK listed in the proposal are same as the ones discussed on Thursday. The CWPAN should accept one tech as the primitive one. Then, other tech may be accepted as optional ones. In one national std, it is impossible to list two alternative tech since it may create the confusion for the chip manufacture and certification. Then, the Vote started. The motion “The MPSK is chosen to be the mandatory one and OQPSK is chosen to be the optional one in CWPAN std” is accepted by all of attendants with voting rights. The CWPAN meeting ended at 11:30 am on Sept. 20. Liang Li (Vinno)

Activities in Oct. and Nov. 2007 CWPAN asked Vinno, Hisilicon and CESI to take the tech edition on CWPAN std. The draft of std (Version 8.0) should be distributed to all of CWPAN member before end of year 2007. Then, Publicize this std to all of members in China Std committee in early of 2008 and take the letter ballets. In Nov, WSN group, one sub-group of CWPAN, will hold one special tech meeting in HongZhong city. The major topic is about the Networking of WSN. In Dec. one plenary CWPAN meeting may be held in Dec.
