HSSD Teacher Evaluation Process Ensuring the highest quality teaching in the Howard-Suamico School District

Overview of the Evaluation Process The purpose of the evaluation tool is to provide specific feedback to teachers and promote continuous improvement.  On-going, 3-year process The evaluation process consists of specific feedback on teacher expectations in four domains including: Planning and preparation Classroom environment Instruction Professional Responsibilities

Summative Process 3 parts Formative evaluations Teacher Self-Reflection/Teacher Self-Evaluation Tool (TSR) Summative evaluation

Formative Assessment Everyday things Committee work Meetings Classroom observations “First and second year teachers: at least two (2) classroom visits of no less than fifteen (15) minutes each, with a teacher evaluator conference within a reasonable time after each visitation”

Teacher Self-Reflection Tool There are different parts of the TSR 1. Goals 2. Self-Reflection 3. Self-Evaluation

TSR Goal Form Evaluation\Goals - Teacher Self Reflection Tool.doc Annually, teachers are to establish their individual professional goals for the upcoming year. Submitted by Sept. 15 to administrator Must relate to one or more elements or components of a domain Will be reviewed at observation/evaluation conferences

TSR Form – Self-Reflection Evaluation\Goals - Teacher Self Reflection Tool.doc The self-reflection portion of the TSR is intended to be a log of each teacher’s best examples of how he or she has met the expectations outlined in the rubrics of the four domains.  Annually, fill in Teacher Self-Reflection/Notes section Log examples of how you met expectations. i.e. lesson plans, parent letters, notes, etc. (Items listed do not need to be turned in to admin. Unless requested as evidence) Parent, Student and Colleague Surveys need to be completed and reflected on. Performance Feedback On a regular basis teachers are expected to seek performance feedback through the use of surveys. Must be done yearly- Students, parents, colleagues Can use district developed surveys or your own Online options???? Surveys do not need to be shown to anyone-you just need to reflect on them on the last page of the TSR

Tval Scavenger Search Look for the Administration Roles in the Summative Process- Read through and ask questions if you have any Go to the “appendix A-2 Summative Evaluation Rubric - Resource Document” Note the domains, the elements, and level of performance as referred to earlier Explore other documents in the Tval folder How are you going to organize your documents for the summative evaluation process?
