THE KU KLUX KLAN

CREATION AND NAMING First group: 1860 -> 1870 -To overthrow the Republican state governments -Violence against African-American leaders Second group: 1915 -> 1920 -Nationwide -Inspiration from The Birth of a Nation -It opposed Catholics and Jews Third group: 1950 -> today -Localized and isolated groups -Opposition to the civil rights movement -a legally allowed entity

GOALS AND ORGANISATION -changes in the Klan's estimated membership over time since the second group to nowadays. -huge gap 1924-1930 due to Specific events as In Indiana, the scandal surrounding the 1925 murder trial of D.C Stephenon -Coat and Cape made in cotton -Badge on the left side of the chest -The color shows their ranks in some organisation but in most of them they’re all wearing a white outfit -Favor the election of KKK members in the Democratic Party -On theory, because in reality, the members brutalize minorities, they even institute an illegal curfew and beat people who don’t respect it .
